Bloombergville 13 – Funds Raised!

Thanks to all our supporters who contributed money to cover the court costs of the Bloombergville 13. Between our online fundraising and our fundraising party, we raised enough to cover court costs plus a surplus of about $700! We have agreed to reserve that surplus to help cover costs of upcoming campaigns, and we are continuing to collect donations for that.     One cruise missile could pay 10 teacher’s salaries for a year!

    Two-thirds of all American companies pay absolutely ZERO taxes!

    More African American men are in prison, on probation or parole than were enslaved in 1850, before the Civil War began!

    The word “corporation” doesn’t exist anywhere in our Constitution!

    RALLY TO CLOSE INDIAN POINT!

    JOIN THE HISTORIC AUGUST 13TH "MILLIONS MARCHING IN HARLEM"

    On May 19th, the anniversary of the birth of Malcolm X, the December 12th Movement made a call to the community to come out in defense of Africa and Africans. We proposed a major demonstration in Harlem on August 13th to protest and denounce the Re-colonization of Africa and the escalating attack on Africa and the African Diaspora. In particular, we called on those present to join in the demand to: Stop the Bombing of Libya and To End the Sanctions Against Zimbabwe and NYC Mayor Bloomberg’s destruction of Black housing, education and healthcare.

    David Cobb - Move To Amend - Speaks About "Corporate Personhood"

    David Cobbm, 2004 Green Party presidential candidate and Move to Amend spokesperson, will be speaking about the movement to amend the U. S. Constitution to eliminate corporate personhood.

    The talk will enlighten those who attend on the history of corporate personhood and the impact it has on our rights as "we, the people." A discussion will follow.

    The forum will focus on how you can join the national movement against Corporate Personhood. Information will be provided about the issue and facilitate a discussion about local action in your area and in communities across the United States to win the amendment campaign through grassroots mobilization.

    Noon: Bloombergville will hold “Express Yourself on Us” at Union Square, in which passersby are invited to express their views of Mayor Bloomberg by writing them on the clothing of the performers.

    1:15 PM:Bloombergville residents will join a rally at 60 Centre Street (Foley Square) sponsored by Parents Unite to support the UFT and NAACP’s lawsuit against the closing of dozens of public schools

    3 PM: Bloombergville will participate in a press conference on the steps of City Hall to promote the alternative budget drafted by the Beyond May 12 coalition

    6 PM: One-Week "Birthday Party" for Bloombergville

    We'll celebrate the one-week "birthday" of Bloombergville with a cake and Greek pastries and spinach pie in honor of the Greek workers and students' current fight against austerity. Held at Bloombergville (Broadway between Park Place and Barclay Street)
